Hiking the Himalaya: Practical thoughts on a scary situation

Himalayas

Episode 30…Hiking the Himalaya in India as part of a National Outdoor Leadership (NOLS) mountaineering course is a once in a lifetime experience.

My guest on this podcast is on a mission to encourage outdoor adventure and Type II fun.

Y’all know….I’m a huge fan of Type II fun (in small-ish doses)!

Reese Sun is a stoke-filled champion of equity in access to, and sharing the magic of the outdoors. It wasn’t always this way, she grew up in the small suburb of Sugar Land, TX where there was never snow, no mountains, and she spent most of her time avoiding the sweltering Texas heat.

After a later-in-life realization of a love for outdoor passions and for encouraging people to get after Type II fun, she now works on the Global Strategy Team for The North Face aiming to do business and do good at the same time.

In this episode, Reese and I chat about hiking the Indian Himalaya in our 6-week NOLS Mountaineering Course.

More than that, Reese is sharing what she learned from a scary situation on the glacier and more, including:

  • What outdoor adventure is all about
  • The greatest possible platform for connection
  • What to do in stressful situations
  • How you bond with others through adversity
  • Adventure Mindset
  • Why “miserable” experiences may be some of the best

So if you’re in the mood for fun, a scary adventure, laughter, and stress-relief tips, join me for this inspiring conversation with Reese Sun!
